Fields of Faith Reflection: When You Show Up Unready, God Still Shows Up Ready
Share
Back in mid-October, I found myself getting ready for a Fields of Faith event with FCA. I pictured stadium lights, a cold bleacher crowd, and students filling a high school field. Then the weather rolled in. The whole thing got moved indoors to a local church.
Different setting.
Same God.
At first, I was thrown off. I had a picture in my head of how it was supposed to go.
But God wasn’t stressed. He just relocated the assignment.
The Stress Before the Night
If I’m honest, leading up to this event I was stressed.
-
Bracelets didn’t show up until two days before the event.
-
Hoodies didn’t land until the day before the event.
-
One hoodie still hadn’t arrived.
I ordered everything two weeks out… but it felt like everything was still last-minute. I also wasn’t fully prepared until 2–3 hours before the event. That’s not how I want to move.
And just when I thought, “Alright, I’ve got it together now,” I realized I’d forgotten my rack to display the clothes.
Perfect.
But God did what He always does: He showed up. Right where my table was set up in the church, there were line railings and spots I could use to hang product. Honestly? They worked better than the rack I’d planned to bring.
That’s a different kind of miracle—one that doesn’t feel like fireworks, but still hits you in the chest. Because it’s a reminder:
God doesn’t just rescue you from your mistakes.
Sometimes He upgrades what you thought you needed.
Watching God Move in Real Time
Once I got past my own frustration and actually looked up, I saw what was happening:
High schoolers seeking community, hungry for something real, and most importantly—hungry for Jesus. About ten students gave their lives to Christ that night.
That alone was worth every late shipment, every missing rack, every anxious moment.
It was also my second high school event in three weeks. Both times, God used these students to encourage me. Their hearts. Their desire to show up for God. Their openness.
It all lit a fire in me for my own walk with Him.
High Schoolers Aren’t My Target Audience… Or Are They?
Going into the event, I didn’t see high schoolers as my “main” audience. Raw Faith was originally aimed more at adults, especially men in that 20–40 lane. But the students kept coming up to the table. They didn’t just like the clothes—they loved the designs. Especially the Humbl pieces.
It got me asking God some real questions:
-
What do I walk away with from this?
-
What’s next?
-
Do I lean into teens more intentionally?
I don’t have a final answer yet. But I do know this: God is encouraging me through these kids. Their hunger for Him challenges me. Their boldness inspires my walk. Their desire to show up for Jesus reminds me what this is really about.
So… Why Am I Sharing This Now?
Because I don’t want to only post the polished launch moments. I want to remember—and let you see—the behind-the-scenes nights where God was shaping me, not just the brand.
I came in stressed. Unprepared. Missing pieces. And God still moved. That’s the part I don’t want to forget:
God can use you even when you don’t feel ready— as long as you’re willing to show up.
And maybe that’s the story of Raw Faith right now. Not perfect. Not polished. But present.
Still showing up. Still building. Still learning. Still pointing back to Jesus.
